While I am currently travelling by train to Mülheim an der Ruhr to pick up my car I am looking at my Capture One session with 3600 images from our three week adventure to Finland which is the longest trip Eva and I had since 2016 and the longest trip in Scandinavia ever.
The route was taking us from Travemünde to Helsinki using the ferry continued by taking the night train to Kolari. After a total of 44 hours of travel time the winter adventure started with -27°C and we continued to our first destination: Ylläsjärvi – a place filled with beautiful and partly sad memories from previous trips.

The weather was warming up unfortunately and the skies were mostly cloudy which allowed for lots of rest and daytime adventures. Snowshoeing was one of them and we enjoyed it a lot.
Next we headed up further north towards Norway and spent a few days in a very cozy hotel next to the E75 approximately 40 minutes north from Inari. And we were lucky: the sky cleared and northern lights mesmerised us again although we have seen them so often during past trips (and I get goose bumps while writing this post). Finally, a chance for our new equipment to show what it is being capable of.
During the whole trip Eva only used the Nikkor Z 20mm 1.8 on her Z9 for photographing at night while I was using the Z9 with several of my Zeiss lenses.

Our next stop was within the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and with another round of clouds covering the skies it was again time to recharge, hike and being grateful for these adventures.

This post will be continued later….
